Our unique approach

Pilates + Ballroom & Latin

At Dance Vitality Studio, we are proud to be the only studio that uniquely integrates specialized Pilates conditioning directly into every ballroom and Latin dance class. This ensures children develop incredible core strength, full-body coordination, fine motor skills, and proper posture while learning to dance gracefully.

Two ways to progress

Recreational and competitive programs

Every child starts in the same group class. What differs is how far they want to take it.

Group classes only

Recreational Program

Our recreational program is delivered primarily through group classes, introducing dancers to the foundational steps across all core Ballroom and Latin styles in a welcoming environment. The curriculum covers fundamental footwork, rhythm, and body awareness, while incorporating partner work to help students learn social coordination, respect personal space, and build natural confidence dancing with peers without shyness. Every class also features dedicated Pilates and body conditioning to strengthen the core, improve posture, and build healthy physical habits. For students who want to accelerate their progress, refine their look, or deepen their understanding of the dances for personal satisfaction, private lessons are available as a personalized supplement.

Group classes plus mandatory private lessons

Competitive Program

Designed for dancers seeking technical mastery and athletic excellence, our competitive program prepares students to excel on regional, national, and international stages. To achieve these goals, the competitive program relies on mandatory private lessons, ensuring every path is fully personalized. Each individual student or couple receives custom-tailored routines specifically designed for their exact age category—from young children to adults—and skill level, spanning from beginner medal tests to open-level competition. Training strictly aligns with syllabus regulations and dance selections permitted for their specific tier, while intensive Pilates and specialized body conditioning are integrated directly into their routine to build core stability, flexibility, stamina, and commanding floor presence.

Group Classes

Our group classes are uniquely structured around an exclusive fusion you won't find anywhere else: we are the only studio that integrates Pilates directly with ballroom and Latin dance instruction. Combining these two disciplines provides the ultimate foundation for developing a strong, versatile dancer.

What Pilates does

Pilates focuses on core strength, muscle stability, spinal alignment, and flexibility. It teaches students how to control their body, protect their joints, and maintain upright posture — giving them the physical conditioning required to move gracefully and prevent injury.

What ballroom & Latin dance does

Dancing translates that core stability into fluid movement, spatial awareness, rhythm, and social coordination. Group classes focus specifically on mastering the basic fundamental steps of each dance, laying a strong groundwork in timing, footwork, and partner connection without overwhelming students.

Through this dual approach, students learn the essential basic foundations across International Standard styles — Waltz, Tango, Viennese Waltz, and Quickstep — as well as International Latin styles — Cha-Cha, Samba, Rumba, Paso Doble, and Jive. By pairing targeted Pilates conditioning with fundamental Ballroom and Latin basics, students gain the physical strength, proper mechanics, and confidence needed to build a lifelong love for dance.

No partner? Not a problem — we rotate partners in every group class, and a child without one can take private lessons and compete in the Mixed-Amateurs category.

For parents

Questions we get asked

What if my child tries it and doesn't take to it?

Full refund of the balance if you withdraw within the first two weeks of the term. After that we cannot refund fees, except for serious medical illness accompanied by a doctor's note. Registering up front is what lets us plan the term properly, and the refund window is how we make that fair to you.

Does my child need any dance experience?

None at all. The program assumes none, and most children arrive having never danced. Classes are mixed-age and mixed-level, so beginners are always working alongside someone else who is also learning it for the first time.

What happens if we miss a class?

Each term has two scheduled make-up days near its end, so a missed class is never simply lost — see the dates for each term above.

Why is half the class not dancing?

Because the dancing gets better when the body underneath it does. A focused one-hour training system: 30 minutes of specialised Pilates, core conditioning and stretching, followed by 30 minutes of dance foundations, footwork and posture. Everyone trains together for Pilates; for the dance half, students are grouped by age category and level. Children who skip the conditioning half plateau on technique within a season — the strength, flexibility and core control are what make the steps possible.

What should they wear to the first class?

Comfortable clothes they can move in, and shoes with a smooth sole — no runners with heavy grip, which make turning difficult and can be hard on ankles. Proper dance shoes can wait until you know they enjoy it.

Do they need a partner?

No — not for class, and not even for competition. We pair students up and rotate partners so everyone dances. If your child later wants to compete without a partner, they can take privates with one of our associate teachers and compete with them on the floor, in an officially recognised category called Mixed-Amateurs. Nobody sits out waiting for the right partner to appear.

How do I pay?

Send payment together with your registration form to secure your spot. E-transfer to ks2dance@gmail.com, with your child's name attached to the payment. We'll also confirm the amount and your child's place by phone once we receive your registration.

Can parents watch?

Yes. You're welcome to stay and watch, and we'd encourage it for the first class or two while your child settles in.
