Your first dance
Choreography built around the song you have already chosen — or help choosing one, if you haven't. We work to your ability, not to a template, so it looks like the two of you rather than like a routine.

Special occasions
We are Canada's premier wedding dance choreographers and coaches. We help you, your partner and your families create a moment your guests will still be talking about at the next wedding.
What we choreograph
Most couples come to us for one routine and leave having sorted out four.
Choreography built around the song you have already chosen — or help choosing one, if you haven't. We work to your ability, not to a template, so it looks like the two of you rather than like a routine.
Father-daughter, mother-son, and the dances that catch couples by surprise a fortnight before the day. Short, simple and rehearsed until nobody is counting in their head.
Group choreography for bridesmaids, groomsmen or the whole party, including the surprise numbers that get filmed and shared for years afterwards.
Enough Foxtrot, Rumba and Swing to hold your own for the rest of the night, so the first dance is not the only one you enjoy.
When to start
Sooner is easier. Later is still fine — we have done both.
3 to 6 months out
Enough runway to learn properly, absorb a routine and still have weeks of rehearsal in hand. This is when most couples come to us.
6 to 8 weeks out
A focused program on a simpler routine. Plenty of our best first dances were built in this window — it just means fewer new steps and more polish.
Under a month
We have choreographed a first dance in a fortnight more than once. Tell us the date and we will tell you honestly what is achievable.
“My wedding dance was made so much more special by Dance Vitality's coaching than our entire family expected. Our guests haven't stopped talking about how much fun they had watching, and how impressed they were with our moves!”
Before you ask
It is the normal starting point. Most couples who book wedding lessons have never danced together beyond a wedding reception, and the choreography is built around what you can actually do rather than what a dancer could.
Yes, and we would prefer you did. Bring the recording you plan to use and we will choreograph to it, including where to cut it if the full version runs long.
It depends on the song, the routine and how much time you have. We will give you an honest estimate at your first lesson, once we have seen you move and heard the music.
Extremely common, and not a problem. The reluctant half is usually the one enjoying it by the third lesson.
Get started
Bring the music you are thinking of and we will show you what your first dance could look like. By the end of the hour you will know how many lessons you need, and you will already have the opening of your routine.
Pick “Our wedding first dance” on the form and tell us your date when we call.
